Appalachian Daughter Moira Murphy, lauded for her 'haunting voice and magnetic stage presence' (No Flash Photography, Madison), has toured internationally with operas, performed across the country with metal and jazz bands, acted at Dollywood, and worked as a stage director, music director, arranger, and conductor.
With her solo work, Moira aims to peel away layers of obstruction around the subconscious using ethereal melody, haunting modes, and ritualistic rhythm. Her album, 'A Trembling Flame, ' is an ambient collection centered around mystic Hildegard von Bingen’s chants. She has performed in Basilicas, cemeteries, and tea-houses to reframe what the 'classical' music experience.
