Erica Densmore Dance Artists (Philadelphia, PA)
Erica Densmore Dance Artists is a Philadelphia-based contemporary dance company focused on redefining what contemporary and concert dance means under a modern lense. Through the use of contemporary, jazz, and styles within the African Diaspora, EDDA is reimagining abrstract storytelling. Founder, Erica Densmore, utilizes deeply personal, anecdotal moments from her life to craft pieces that speak to familar themes of love, friendship, loss, feminitity and the overall human experience. Collaboration and connection are the foundation of all of their work with the goal of generating discussions to bridge the gap for others.
Melissa Wilhoit (Asheville)
Melissa Wilhoit is a passionate explorer of time, space, and musicality, with a deep curiosity for the ways movement communicates ideas and preserves personal and generational memories. Throughout her career, she has performed and choreographed for dance companies in Washington, D.C. and New York City, metropolitan areas, and currently dances with Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre. Melissa’s solo 'Breathe’ was featured in the 2021 Toronto International Dance Festival, and her work has been presented in Asheville Fringe for the past four years. Her work has also been supported by NYFA, the North Carolina Arts Council, the City of Asheville and ACDT. Melissa's ongoing commitment to creating and presenting work is driven by her passion to inspire and provoke thought through dance.
